Terms of use
These terms apply when you use River Float Log ("the app"), on a phone or on the web. By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
River information is general guidance, not safety advice
Flows, forecasts, trends, recommended ranges, class ratings, run lengths and alerts are general information only. They come from public and community sources, can be wrong, out of date or missing, and rivers change. Use your own judgment to assess any and all risk, scout when in doubt, and never rely on the app to decide whether a run is safe.
Paddling is dangerous and can cause injury or death. You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those with you.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings.
Your content
- Your trips, notes and photos stay yours. You let the app store them and show them to you (and, once a friends feature exists, to people you choose) so the app can work.
- Only add photos and names you have the right to share, and ask people before adding photos of them.
- Album links you add point to services the app doesn't control.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the app: no breaking or overloading it, accessing other people's data, or using it for anything unlawful.
Data from other sources
Flow data comes from the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (Hydromet); forecasts from NOAA's National Weather Service and Northwest River Forecast Center; weather from Open-Meteo.com (CC BY 4.0). Run information is based on community sources and links to them. These sources don't endorse the app.
The service
- The app is free. It's provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy or availability.
- Features may change, and the app may be paused or ended. If it's ended, we'll give notice in the app first.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, River Float Log and its maker aren't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from your use of the app or reliance on its information.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA.
